Exploring verses from Exodus 19:16-19, Acts 2:1-21, and Numbers 11:23-30 we learn about the events on the Day of Pentecost and Peters' sermon that follows and what that means for us today.

Acts: Prayerful Dependence

We continue our new series on the book of Acts as Scott Christensen preaches from Acts 1:12-26 with a message on the example set for us; living as a disciple of Christ. Acts is a series of events leading to the description of what is intended for Christs' church today. Scott illustrates three consistencies in the book of Luke and continued throughout the book of Acts; evangelism, establishment of faith, and trust. We are all called to be responsible for carrying out the mission of Christ.

Starting this last Sunday we introduced two new classes at Renovo starting at 9:15 am, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace and Spiritual H.A.B.I.T.S. Both classes take place in the Woodland Elementary library prior to service starting.

Spiritual H.A.B.I.T.S. is a 201 level class through our School of Theology that focuses on the core spiritual practices that every Christian should be pursuing through a deeper relationship with Christ. We will spend the next few weeks covering topics such as quiet time with God, prayer, scripture study and memorization, fasting, fellowship and more. We will look at what these mean from a biblical perspective, how to practice them, and why they are important to your walk with Christ.

Financial Peace is being led by Larry Redelsperger and is a class designed and developed by Dave Ramsey. Financial Peace is about learning what it means to honor God with your finances and learning how you can arrive at a place where you will no longer be burdened with the financial responsibilities of this world. The class covers everything from budgeting, saving, and investing to setting your goals to be in a place where you can financially be a blessing to others.

Don't forget Alpha Course started last week as well at the home of Kevin and Brenda Greeley.

Acts: Jesus' Ascension

We move into 2010 with our new series on the book of Acts. Scott Christensen preaches from Acts 1:1-11 with a message of the significance of Jesus' death and ascension into heaven. As Jesus ascends, the church is born and we are all empowered with the power and spirit of Jesus to repeat God's mission. Each of us has a role to fulfill in this mission today and we want to challenge you to respond to the mission in 2010.

Re:peat

We conclude our short sermon series transitioning into the new year with Scott Christensen teaching about Renovo's intention to Repeat God's mission within our community. Teaching from Matthew 28:18-20 and Romans 15:14-21 Scott challenges the complacency we often fall into as we get comfortable with our surroundings. Jesus and Paul clearly instruct us in the New Testament with a mission to plant churches and intentionally place ourselves in relationships with others.

Jake uses Romans 5:12 and 6:23, Ephesians 2:1-9, Luke 22:20, Psalm 51, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24, and Romans 8 to show how we can renew our relationship with Christ and make 2010 a year to remember.

Advent Conspiracy: Love All

This week we finish the 2009 Advent Conspiracy series with a message entitled Love All. Scott Christensen preaches from Mark 15:21-47 on the meaning behind celebrating Christmas. Christmas is more than just the birth of Christ, it's the summation of his birth, death, and sacrifice for each one of us. God's ultimate and underserved gift to all mankind was Christ as the substitionary atonement for our sins. Reflect on the way you celebrate Christmas this year and we encourage everyone to spread the love of Christ this Advent season.

This week we kick off the first week of the 2009 Advent Conspiracy series. Scott Christensen preaches from John 1:1-13 to provide us with a theological undersanding of who God is and what he means to us. John illustrates a picture of running toward the light and how John the baptist was to bear witness to Jesus as our light in world often filled with darkness.
