Jake & Amy McVay are currently living in Puyallup, WA with their two children Hannah(6) and Mia (2). Jake began serving in ministry in 1997 in volunteer roles leading worship and teaching Bible studies at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, TN. He then served full time for Centrifuge camps in the summer of ’98 and joined the Staff of FBC Hendersonville in 1999 as the Associate Worship Leader serving under Pastors Richard Gaia and Brady Cooper.

Jake and Amy met in college where they were coordinating a mission trip to Mexico. They engaged and were married in 2001. They accepted the calling to be a part of The Church @ Cross Point working with Pastor Kevin Minchey in Murfreesboro, TN. They served at Cross Point leading worship, assisting in local evangelism and coordinating missions and helping build community. In 2004 they stepped out in faith as Jake would be a part of a traveling worship ministry and serving part time leading worship for New Vision Baptist Church also in Murfreesboro, TN.

The McVay’s began to have a longing to be a part of the mission in the Northwest. The area south of Seattle is where Amy grew up and most of her family resides there today. The Lord opened a door for them to move to Puyallup and serve at Rainier View Christian Church. At the end of 2005 Jake began serving as Rainier View’s worship Pastor and they enjoyed being apart of that ministry for 3 years.

During their time serving here they met Scott and Holly Christensen and discovered they shared a passion for church planting. The Christensen’s stepped out to plant Renovo in the Fall of 2008. Jake and Amy had been praying for God’s leading and resigned from Rainier View to become a part of Renovo and to share in the Kingdom work that Jesus is doing in Pierce County. Jake is also finishing his degree in graphic and web design and is also using these skills for ministry and to earn some income for the family.

As a family they enjoy music, games, outdoor activities (especially the Oregon coast). They love being apart of the Puyallup community, The Fair, farmers market, building relationships and seeing people come to know Jesus.
